Hello! It’s summer! I’ve shared before how much I love summer & how much I love spending time with my amazing kiddos! One of our “simple joys of summer” is spending time in the kitchen baking up a new recipe, so today I am excited to share this easy & yummy Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe with you. Annnnd you know if you eat a cookie, you are are going to want a glass of ice cold milk to go with it! ha! If kiddos don’t drink milk regularly, it can make it super hard for them to get the nutrients they need to grow. Today I’d also love to tell you about The Great American Milk Drive.  You’ll find out how you can help deliver nutrient-rich milk to those in need & help ensure that all children have the potential to play, learn & grow. So let’s get started! 🙂

For kiddos 9 & older, the Dietary Guidelines recommend three servings of low fat or fat free milk & milk products every day and two & a half servings daily for children ages 4 to 8.  Millions of Americans – including 12 million children – get help from Feeding America® food banks every year. Annnd milk is one of the most requested food items, but milk is one of the least donated items. That means lots of kiddos in need may be missing out on the essential nutrients that milk provides. You can help! By giving a small donation to The Great American Milk Drive you can feed a child in your neighborhood this summer. The Great American Milk Drive is a combined effort between Feeding America®, America’s dairy farmers & milk companies. It turns online donations into gallons of milk for families in local communities. The program has provided more than 12 million servings of milk to families in our country. You can help by donating right {HERE}. Simply giving as little as a $5 donation can give a gallon of fresh milk to a child in need.

Summer is an especially good time to donate, Since lots of kiddos are out of school, & that means they are missing out on the free or reduced lunches at school. Food banks are critical in helping kiddos have access to the milk they need to grow & thrive. Annnnd did you know that June is National Dairy Month? Let’s celebrate by giving milk to a child who needs it. 🙂 Now let’s get to that recipe!
