Good morning! How was your weekend? Ours was cold! haha! We had a light dusting of snow Saturday morning. Brrrr! Well, warmer weather will be here soon (I hope!). Annnnnd we have two fun things coming up ~ Earth Day & Cinco De Mayo. So, I decided to combine the two for this fun post. 🙂 As most of you know, I work with Cricut. Annnnnd I’m obsessed with vinyl. I go through quite a lot of vinyl rolls when I’m crafting. My collection of empty vinyl tubes is getting quite big. ha! So, instead of throwing them away (& in honor of Earth Day!), I decided to turn them into these fun Cinco De Mayo Noisemakers. Let me show you how!
***I was inspired by Sydney from Tastefully Frugal & her mini piñata. Check it out! It’s so cute!***
For these noisemakers, you will need the following:
empty vinyl tubes or toilet paper rolls
Cricut StandardGrip cutting mat
Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2
hot glue gun
this Design Space file
First, you’ll cut out your paper fringe. You’ll need 8 for each shaker.
I used my Cricut Maker to do this using the heavy cardstock setting.
Next, you’ll cut your tubes in half.
I wrapped one end in a scrap piece of cardstock. I hot glued it into place.
Then start wrapping your tube with alternating colors of fringe.
When you are finished, “fluff” your fringe. ha!
To seal the ends, I just used a circle punch to make a circle to fit. Hot glue that in place. Leave one end open.
Next, fill your tube with dried beans.
Seal the end with another cardstock circle. Now you have some fun noisemakers. Shake, shake, shake!
