Good morning! Today it’s time for another round of Craft Lightning! Yay! This month’s theme was a little bit unique. We all chose any obscure holiday, & we are sharing a 15 minute craft to go along with that holiday. I did some googling. ha! Annnnd I picked Feed the Birds Day which is apparently always celebrated on February 3rd. So today I am going to share this easy DIY Bird Feeder that me & my kiddos made.
We recently moved out to the country, and we love watching all the birds. Winter time is kind of hard on our feathered friends, so any extra food they can find is much appreciated! So really winter time is the perfect time to feed the birds. 🙂
For this project you will need:
1 box Sure Jell or gelatin
1/4 cup boiling water
1 1/2 cups of birdseed
large cookie cutters
cookie sheet
twine
scissors
Boil the water. Remove from heat & pour in one package of Sure Jell. Stir until dissolved. Pour in your birdseed. Then stir until all the birdseed is thoroughly coated.
Next, lay your cookie cutters on a cookie sheet. Fill each one with the birdseed mixture. Press down until firm.
You’ll need a hole to hang your feeders up with. I put in a straw. Place your feeders into the freezer to speed up the hardening process.
After they have hardened, thread some twine through the hole & tie in a knot. All done!
Hang them in a tree! Annnnnd wait for the birds to find them. 🙂
